While not particularly action-packed, this book is filled with emotional drama. Centering on the Fisher family (Boomer generation parents Patrick and Vivienne along with their three adult daughters Alex, Nancy and Eva), a near-fatal accident during a weeklong family vacation sets off a chain of events that dredges up the past, shakes the present and blurs the future for each family member. Excellent at weaving multiple timelines to create a cohesive story rich with human insight, The Accidental Favourite is an honest portrayal of a family desperately trying to remedy past mistakes.
